MRT, LRT rates going up

The government will finally implement fare hikes at the EDSA-bound Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2 that have been repeatedly postponed for several months.

Transportation and Communications Secretary Manuel Roxas II said yesterday that the time has come for the implementation of the fare hikes and for the riding public to bear a bigger share of the burden of maintaining the three commuter rail lines.
